Truth vs "Truthiness"
"What is important to me is not the truth outside myself, but the truth within myself."- Konstantin Stanislavsky
One of the keys to having success is to focus on facts, not fiction.
We did many of the popular self-help programs, therapies, listened to the round robin of success gurus, read their books and found ourselves in worse shape then ever.
Then, we came upon a key understanding.
We weren't the problem. The systems we had studied were faulty and inaccurate. As we reflected on the past and current climate of personal development we discovered that it was enmeshed in truthiness.
Truthiness is a satirical term coined by Steven Colbert for something that feels right, but isn't the truth. It's truthy.
One of the reasons it's so easy to buy into truthiness is because it appeals to your emotion and comfort.
An example of truthiness is, you have to be a positive thinker.
The truth is, it's the nature of the mind to divide into seeming pairs of opposites called binaries.
Good/bad, right/wrong, up/down, positive/negative, etc...
Positive thinking doesn't work because you have to deny and suppress thoughts and feelings that are naturally arising.
Look at the archetype of the theater. Do you see two smiling faces or two tragic faces?
No. You see a mask of tragedy and a mask of comedy. This symbol represents the binary nature of both acting and life.
And those that are at ease with all the seeming opposites that are naturally arising are often our greatest artists and happiest ones too!
Facts + Truth = Greater probability of having success now.
